Mass communication is designed to aid students in developing conscious criteria by which to determine the worth of what they enjoy as social commentaries and as effective communicative representations of essential truths of human experience as presented by the media. This will apply to their personal selection of film, radio, and television programs. WBHS programming covers the Belleville schools both academically and athletically as well as community functions. Graphics also inform the communities of upcoming events. Students disc jockey their favorite music and may gain an FCC license at the end of the year. The educational/community station also reaches the surrounding towns of Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, and the Oranges. Presently, many students have entered the field at ABC, CBS, WWOR, MTV, Atlantic Records, Cable programs, ESPN, Warner Brothers. This course offers 3 college credits, which is helpful for students pursuing a career in Communications, Film, Media, Editing, and Video Production.
